Ruda, also known as rue, is a herb with deep roots in Latin American folk tradition and spiritual practice. It has been used for centuries in ceremony and ritual across South and Central America, associated with protection and spiritual cleansing and considered one of the more potent herbs for smudging in those traditions. The scent is sharp and distinctly herbal, quite different from white sage, and recognizable to anyone familiar with Latin folk practice.
To use, hold the bundle at a 45 degree angle, light it using a match or candle, and let it burn for about 20 seconds before blowing out the flame. Available in bundles of 1, 3 or 6.
Use in a well ventilated space, away from flammable materials. Never leave burning materials unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
